Worktaster voted Best Use of Innovation, by the Solihull Chamber of Commerce

Nearing the end of the year, Sally and Martin of the Worktaster gang were invited to attend the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce’s end of year awards ceremony, leaving at the end of the night with an award for the Best Use of Innovation of 2016.
The ceremony unfolded with a line up of nominees among a platter of categories, which businesses from the Greater Birmingham area competed to win the awards for. The categories in contest were: Small Business of the Year (up to 50 employees); Best Use of Innovation; Solihull Business Person of the Year; Young Achiever; Outstanding Employee; Career Development and Customer Care. Winning decisions were crafted by judges whom had carefully analysed each businesses growth and determined Worktaster to be befitting of an award, and rightly so.

Worktaster had always acknowledged itself back in 2015 to support young people, educators and businesses, ultimately to meet each others ends through providing young people work experience, courses and apprenticeships through these platforms. What a better way to back that up, than by employing Ishmail Qasim and Luke Waldron through Solihull College (who are now attending prominent Universities), to build a number of Worktaster’s websites as a work experience opportunity. Of course as the students had studies, Sally began to, learn about new software, teach herself how to program and maintain her sites in order for her to carry out technical work while Ishmail and Luke weren’t available. All while limiting themselves to a small budget, sub-par hardware and makeshift office space. This determination to learn how to use modern technology, making the best of their limited resources and building their business on the foundation of their principles as a business, show that Worktaster has come far enough to deserve to be called the most innovative business of 2016.

Big thanks goes out to the Joan Smith at the Chamber of Commerce, Solihull; John Callaghan, the Principle of Solihull College; Fahwad Mohammed, Work Experience Head at Solihull College; Ishmail and Luke and to all the voters and supporters that have helped us get as far as we have, we hope to see you again next year with more awards.
